Q: Richard. This stuff is amazing, it has really cleaned and brightened my trim. I do however have what I can only describe as uneven coverage in some spots. I used sparingly as recommended, but that seems to have left some areas wanting more. The car is getting a bath first thing when I get home tonight...I want to reapply but make sure I am doing it right. Any tips?
A: If the "uneven spots" is due to seeing some shininess there, don't worry, the shine isn't meant to last. That is, after your first wash, most of the shine will go away and your trim will have a more even, dark, matte appearance. The unevenness could also be caused by an existing dressing on the trim. You should use a precleaner like Meguiar's #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner or even a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and water to prep the trim.
Q: Why Use Black Wow?
A: Black Wow isn't the first trim product on the market by any means, but it was designed to look better, work better and last longer than anything else. And do this without resorting to messy dyes. Depending on environmental conditions and frequency of washings, BW can last several months before needing reapplication. It only takes seconds to apply, and with it's built in cleaners, it will remove stubborn wax & polish residue as well as other stains on the trim. Even trim that's been scratched will be noticeably improved.
Q: Who is OctaneGuy???
A: OctaneGuy is the name that the accomplished and respected paint polishing expert Richard Lin, uses on several enthusiast forums. Despite the "octane" references to gasoline and fuel additives, the name comes from one of his Registered Trademarks--Octane Re-Energizing Gel and Octane Caffeinated Green Tea Shower Gel which are successful skin care products designed with functionality in mind. Richard says "With my family business being in skin care, I used to stop by my local retailers to visit and drop off products, and they would always greet me as the Octane Guy. So the name just stuck!".
Q: How Did You Come Up With The Black Wow Name??
A: Simple, it's the most common phrase that is made when people see what the product can do for them. WOW! or Wow, that's black! (on formerly black plastic trim).
Q: Where is BW made?
A: Right here in the USA. Early production versions were made in our laboratory for several months, until demand outgrew our ability to produce more every week.
Q: Isn't BW just a relabled product of XXX?
A: Black Wow was conceived of from the ground up. While there are other silicone based dressings on the market, BW has all the properties important to somebody looking to make their plastic trim look it's best, such as cleaning ability, high concentration, and long lasting durability.
Q: How Long Will This Look Last?
A: It depends on environmental conditions, but in most cases it should last for atleast a month, and possibly several months.
Q: Can I use BW on my tires?
A: Black Wow was designed as a durable exterior plastic trim dressing. It wasn't designed for use on tires, and therefore won't last long for that application.
Q: How Long Will a Bottle Last?
A: Because the formula is so highly concentrated, and that it lasts for a long time, a single bottle may last you an entire year or longer, but it does depend on how many cars you use the product on and how harsh the environmental conditions are.
Q: I Live in a Cold Climate. What Happens if BW Freezes?
A: Freeze/Thaw tests were performed on BW samples over the course of several weeks, and although the freezing point is lower than water, BW will freeze, though once it thaws, it will return to it's normal state without any compromise to the product. BW should be stored at room temperature, but should it freeze by accident, it should be ok. We tested this for four consecutive times and didn't note any loss in performance of the product.
Q: What is a show car detailer??
A: Richard specializes in the art of polishing paint. Through subtractive techniques, many paint conditions that are deemed "the best it will get" or "it needs a repaint" can be restored without the cost and time involved for repaints. Look at these examples of his work, none of these were repaints. The polishing process lasted approx 14 hours for each restore.
