What did you do on Memorial Day? I taught a one on one session clinic to the owner of this blue Lexus. She got her hands on everything from washing with the Nomad, rotary with wool pad, rotary with foam pads, Flex DA, PC, and waxing. She started as a complete newbie and by the time we were done, she was comfortable using all the tools. Here are some pix!

OctaneGuy Gets Mention in January 2008 Panorama Magazine
Just heard from Ken Smiley over at Caymanclub.net that I got my picture in the latest Porsche Panorama. Not the best picture of me, and I had just arrived after my 5 hour drive to Vegas, lol. Thought it was pretty cool! In case you don't get it, here's the pic.

Burned mail was headed for New Orleans

Dave Cohen Reporting
The U.S. Postal Service says the mail truck that burned on the I-10 over the Bonnet Carre Spillway was carrying mail to New Orleans.

Postal Inspector Terry Barrett says, "It's safe to say it was from a number of different locations." He says the truck was delivering letters and packages from areas of the country West of Baton Rouge to New Orleans.

He says all of the mail in the truck was burned. "The cab and the trailer were completely engulfed and it was destroyed."

Barrett says if someone in the New Orleans area doesn't get an expected mail delivery this week, postal workers can try to figure out if it was on that 18-wheeler. "They may be able to determine if that may have been on the truck. It would be an approximation," he says.

He advises anyone with questions call the consumer affairs staff at the New Orleans post office at 589-1130 or the Office of the Postmaster at 589-1106.

Happy New Year!! This is going to be a GREAT year. I'm back from my vacation and full of energy. I have a boatload of orders to process over the past two weeks, so those are being worked on now. OctaneGuy's OneGrips have been released!

Many of you have seen first hand how this worked at AMVIV or at my weekend garage clinics.

Finally, OctaneGuy's latest invention to help everyone who uses a Porter Cable random orbital polisher, whether newbie or long time professional has just been released. The OneGrip is a die cut, hand-made in the USA, adjustable neoprene strap that lets the polisher become an extension of your arm. By transferring the weight of the machine off your fingers and wrist, you can polish with a relaxed hand and just focus on smooth, consistent, arm strokes for that show car finish. Especially useful on vertical panels where you must grip the PC harder against gravity, or long extensions where you are trying to reach deep across a long truck hood or roof and fear you might drop or let go of the PC, or even going as far to allow you to switch from your right hand to your left hand, the OneGrip provides greater security.

The OneGrip, the grip that let's you polish one handed, was designed to work with your grip. It doesn't force you to use any predetermined uncomfortable grip. Waxing is ultra quick and literally turns the PC into a palm sander. Whether you use a system like Meguiar's where you must apply 15 to 20 pounds of pressure or Prima where it's just the weight of the machine, the OneGrip makes polishing safer, easier, and faster with more confidence.

This video was created "on the fly" meaning this was a quick and dirty video and my voice wasn't originally meant to be heard--so don't strain trying to hear. I used captions to point out what I was talking about.

We've got a new logo! If you don't see it, refresh your cache. I've been really busy preparing new products for launch, and manufacturing, but stay tuned for a bunch of writeups from some cool cars during the last 4 months. Black Wow has been doing pretty well in the UK, thanks to the efforts of Alan W. over on DetailingWorld.co.uk.

MINI Mania is my newest Black Wow retailer, and people will also be able to find it at DetailersParadise.com and WayMotorworks.com, and more retailers being signed up all the time.

CAYMANCLUB.NET LAS VEGAS: FRIDAY OCTOBER 18, 2007

I will be in Las Vegas with Cayman Club.net showing off all of our goodies so the shop will be closed this weekend. If you need anything, give me a call. For those of you that aren't local, give me a call on our new Toll Free line.

Saturday's Open Garage
What a great turnout! Despite the heavy rains, we had a great class. One member even told me that he even washed his car in the rain before coming to the shop! The rain broke long enough to get the cars washed and brought into the shop!

Seeking Part Time Helper (Immediately)
For the last several months, I've had a variety of "intern" helpers assist me in keeping SCD running smoothly. In every case, these helpers were either between jobs or between schooling. My latest helper is starting school at the end of this week, so I've got an immediate opening again.

Working at SCD is a great opportunity to learn more about paint polishing, work around cool cars day in and day out, and be a part of helping a small business grow. You will also get exposure to manufacturing and production of custom products. And if you love cars, there are many perks. If you're interested, shoot me a PM.

Latest Details
Sorry for the lack of updates--been swamped at the shop.

SCD will be closed From Aug 3- 15
No items will be shipped at this time. Orders may be placed online, but nothing will ship as I will be on a MINI roadtrip to Colorado. Any SCD members in Colorado can find me in Denver at Detailers Paradise from Aug 6 to 9, then Copper Mountain fom Aug 9 to 12.

The new eShop has reopened. While I'm still adding products to the store, I've completely reworked the store to make it easier and faster to find the products you need most.

There will be no more SCD Open Garages until mid September, so check the calendar if you're waiting for the next one.

Black Wow is now sold out and the introductory pricing has ended. Thank you to everyone that placed their order. I expect to have more product by August 2007.
Tomorrow, we resume our Saturday class schedule. Sign up if you haven't already. I've got the new UDM (Ultimate Detailing Machine) to play with as well as the newest Ultima products. Also I will doing a scratch repair demo later in the afternoon. I will be wetsanding and using the UDM and Prima Cut.
New Product! Keep your microfiber towels accessible and off the ground! Available in the store in packs of 4.

Our open house event was a fantastic success! Pictures HERE. A big thanks to all the SCD members that stopped by to say hello.

Updates from this week! SCD is better organized, more visible with a new sign from the freeway, new tools reviewed, new ideas for your old tools, and a new paint job for my MINI!

Last Saturday's detail went great! Check out the Before and After of the paint on this Maserati below. See the pictures here.

5/24/07
Black Wow is undergoing it's final pre-production run. The final one before the introductory price is over. To date, all orders have now been shipped.

Thank you!!

What another fantastic clinic! We had a black Corvette and a police car in really bad shape! Everybody got to play with the rotary, the cyclo, the Metabo SXE400, Metabo rotary, Menzerna polishes, Meguiar's, Prima, and even a headlight restore using PlastiX.

Post your pictures and comments HERE!

I'm pleased to announce Black Wow, the ultimate cleaner/dressing for exterior trim plastics. Here's a quick snap shot I did of it last night in my garage at 4AM! Find it in our eshop HERE

Due to my travel schedule this week, all orders will begin shipping when I return next Monday, May 3. Thanks!

Shop & eShop Shipping Schedule This Week
From this Wednesday, May 2 to Sunday, May 6, I will be at MOTD (MINIs On The Dragon) in North Carolina, so my shop will be closed for sales and detailing. And of course, I won't be shipping any products at this time. All orders placed will be shipped when I return. Because the event is in the Smokey Mountains, there is no cell phone coverage, but you may still reach me via my IP phone using the shop phone of 714-881-1031.

Just another "day at the shop"

Last Saturday's Open Garage attendance was light, but nevertheless, the fun was certainly high! The smaller class allowed everyone to constantly work, and we all hung out till the early evening!

Check out the photos and add any comments HERE

The next SCD Saturday Class will be May 12, so mark your calendars.
May 12th Signup
