On Saturday morning, SCD along with one of my customers and his crew attended as a vendor the Seven Stock event. His beautiful and racy RX7 was on display attracting a lot of attention. Wayne went all out to help us promote ourselves and despite a scare of almost losing my pocket PC, the event went off without a hitch.

But before the event, we had to prep the car for the show. I had no idea what the condition would be when it arrived, and of course we started very late the night before. The owner thought we would be done by midnight and be able to rest up to arrive onsite by 6AM for setup. In reality, I was polishing until 3:30AM, at which point had to stop, and start packing my MINI. Ashley had already passed out and I was getting close but by the time I finished it was 4:30AM and the customer was due to return at 5AM.
Yes this is me at one point during the night--were I got about 10 minutes of nap time. I was told that my snoring caused Ramses' some concern as he tried to sleep on my chest.
Late night car wash
The customer also brought his old hood for me to play with and give demos! That's 2 years of dirt and exposure in his backyard.
Since I would be doing polishing demos, Dawn and an old rough chenille mitt would suffice.
Remember we didn't care about marring the paint.
I actually use this mitt for cleaning wheels and the undercarriage.
With the car back inside and time to dry, we went to work.
The engine bay needed detailing. Nothing was left untouched. Qtips with APC were used in all the bolt heads, inside every groove, wires, vents, etc.. Water spots were cleaned up with vinegar of the turbo and polished with metal polish. Plastics were dressed with Hyperdressing or Black Wow where appropriate.
It was certainly a team effort and wonderful to have two other sets of hands working, but fatigue quickly set in on them!
Ashley was busy taking pix and working the interiors.
Sadly the paint was rough and needed to be clayed.
Tires were dressed with the aerosol Insane Shine.
The next day.....
To get the attention of people passing by, I gave demos on what a dirty MF towel will do to paint.
There's the marring. But it wasn't enough, so we set out to find more ways to intentionally swirl the paint.
Dried grass worked well!
Ramses was getting bored.
But wait, I think I spot something very interesting!!! Am I dreaming????
Well hello there my sweet friend!!! Ramses got a girl friend, unfortunately it'll never work. She's from San Diego and that'll be a long distance relationship!
Awww his girlfriend had to leave and now he's heartbroken.
Next to my booth was this stripped down Mazda with pretty much no paint. The owner asked if polishing it would help. I told him he needed new paint, lol. So I tried anyways--the paint just came right off. It looked better, but only on the areas that paint was still intact, otherwise, it was just shiny metal, lol.
All in all, a fantastic day!!! At the end of the day, I had to move my generator to the parking lot, and during that time, I lost my cell phone--and a frantic search by me and my crew yielded nothing. A security guard suggested I ask the organizers with the PA to make an announcement since they had already returned two sets of keys that day. Wouldn't you know it? My phone was returned to me as well. I had an incredibly warm feeling for how honest the people at this event were. Although I didn't own a Mazda, I didn't feel like an outsider. This is an event that I'll be doing again next year for sure!
