PAINT POLISHING ARTIST FOR HIRE!
Hello, my name is Richard Lin, I go by the nicname of OctaneGuy on the forums ShowCarDetailing.com, Meguiarsonline.com, NorthAmericanMotoring.com, Autopia.org, MINI2.com, MotoringAlliance.com, Planet-9.com and several others. I am a MINI enthusiast and paint polishing expert with years of experience and hundreds of cars under my belt. Like many of the best paint polishers, I learned using the Meguiar's system, and fortunately for myself, I learned under several of the most talented people in the business such as Mike Phillips of Meguiars and Joe Fernandez of Superior Shine who are both good friends of mine as well. Early on in my career, I noticed how the restorations I did would impact the owners life, and that became an important motivator for me. I've had customers who cried tears of joy that I was able to fix something that no one else could. What I provide to my customers is knowledge, expertise, experience & instruction, using effective products and systems, designed to do the best job the first time. I also design and manufacture many of my own products such as Black Wow.

Recent Unsolicited Testimonial
"I am currently having my '06 Cayman S detailed by Richard Lin, and at this time--even before the final product is completed!--the results are nothing short of amazing. Richard's work is an art form for him, and I have observed his mastery. The swirls, holograms and small scratches have been eliminated through multiple wash and polish steps, and he has revealed (even before wax) a metallic blue Cobalt unlike any I've ever seen or imagined. In short, I believe the paint to be better than it was showroom new...it's that good! On an personal level, Richard has provided excellent customer service. His communication skills are clearly a strong suit, and he willingly imparts knowledge and advice about process and product. He is also gracious and generous, having invited me to dinner at his sports bar and grill in Corona, CA. I have traveled from Denver, CO, to have this work done and I can say without hesitation or any equivocation there's no doubt it was worth it. Highest recommendation."

When you bring your vehicle to ShowCarDetailing, you can rest assured that your car will be worked on by myself. I will offer you a free paint inspection along with a free test that will show you just how much improvement you can expect for your particular vehicle. Photos will be taken to document the existing condition, process pix will be captured, along with the final transformation. These pictures will be available online for your viewing pleasure. And should there be a problem that cannot be fixed by machine buffing, then other options will be offered such as paint touchup, and if that isn't an option, then my shop can also handle full paint and body work as well as final buffing all with the convenience of being under one roof, and supervised by the very person you trusted in the first place, myself.

How long does a typical detail take? The time varies depending on the size of the vehicle, but in general, it takes between 8 to 14 hours and has been known to go as long as 35+ hours.

I always try to reply to all emails within minutes of receiving it since I use a mobile email device, unless I'm driving and it's not safe to reply. Finally, if you don't hear from me within 24 hours, please call me on my toll free at 1-866-707-9292 or send an email to rick[nospamat]ShowCarDetailing.com (remember to replace the [nospamat] with the @ symbol.

Some general notes:
I only work on one car per day. In the past, when I was mobile, I didn't do Suburbans like GMC Envoys, RV's, buses or similar sized vehicles, however it's now feasible to perform this type of work at my shop (see below) with varying levels of correction. I will be happy to provide quotes for a wash and wax versus full polishing and paint cleaning.

I love to work on black or dark paint. Seeing a car with lots of swirls brings a smile to my face because it means lots of opportunity for improvement!

Most details are between $400 - $700 per car.
I no longer provide mobile detailing services. You can bring your car to me Monday through Saturday by appointment only. Bringing your car to my shop means you can leave the car overnight if necessary and often times a loaner can be provided if available. This allows me to provide a higher quality end result only possible under the optimum conditions that a shop provides.

It's imperative after I restore your paint that we cover how to properly maintain your finish. I will go over products, processes, techniques, and I stock most of the products necessary for your convenience.

I encourage my customers to call me with any questions after the detail for any paint related questions including what products to buy, etc...

Although I will do my best to restore your paint, some paints are too far gone to be restored. See below for clear coat failure example. I will perform a test spot before working on your car to show you what level of restoration can be expected.

Included in this price are:
Full Exterior, glass, trim, tire dressing, and Engine Bay Detailing.
I would recommend using this service twice a year. I can provide maintenance in between those details if desired.

Have MINI Cooper? (New or Classic) As a MINI owner myself, I provide special MINI services just for other MINI owners. PM me for info.

Dents and Dings
I have a very good PDR guy (Paintless Dent Repair) who can work with you at your location to fix any dents. This can be performed while I detail your car or at any other time at your convenience.

Paint that can't be buffed
Examples of paint issues that are beyond repair by me. These need attention from a body shop for repainting. Contact me for a quote.

Clear Coat Failure Example (cannot be fixed by buffing)

Paint Scratch to the metal (cannot be fixed by buffing)

BODY SHOP Work (Yes it CAN be saved!!!)

Newly painted body panel with swirls and holograms caused by body shop! Note Mercedes c230 example above with similar issues.

Having a trusted and reliable paint polisher on call means that you no longer have to stress about finding someone that will take care of your care as well as you would yourself! Consider these scenarios where you might need such a person.

1.) Just picked up your new car from the dealer and want a professional eye to spot any paint defects that you may have missed. I can meet you at the dealership if desired.

2.) Just got your car back from the body shop after having been without it for months and want to know if they did a good job or not.

3.) Had a minor run-in (scrape) with the garage and wonder if it can be repaired without repainting.

4.) You found a scratch on the door, and wonder if it can be repaired or minimized.

5.) You found your precious car was hit by another car in a parking lot and need to know what can be done.

6.) You've got a classic in your garage that's been handed down through the generations, or maybe you've been restoring it, and waiting for money to repaint it. Maybe the paint can be restored without repainting.

There are so many more reasons why having a paint polisher available can be valuable to you!

Vehicle: 2006 Pepper White MINI Cooper S
Link: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...26#post1257326

I wanted to take a moment to thank Richard (OctaneGuy) for the work he did on my Pepper White MINI (see thread below). If you could see the car up close you would be shocked at how beautiful if turned out. It actually looks far better than the day I drove it off the lot.

The entire experience was very positive. He is truly the consummate professional and immediately puts you at ease about any fears you might have about the detailing process. For instance, I had great fear of a polisher coming close to my new car and he explained the whole process to me that put my fears to rest. Also, before he arrived, I was a little nervous because we've all heard nightmare detailing stories but with Richard you really trust his work as soon as you meet him. The work he did, and the pride that he exhibits in his work, is impressive. He toiled for around 7 hours to make my car look amazing and always with a great, upbeat attitude. And one more thing, he doesn't ever mind answering what are probably, to him, inane questions from a detailing knucklehead like myself.

With each step my car became more beautiful. And though I know he doesn't care for it, he was totally cool about applying Zaino. He said it wasn't the choice that he would make but he'd do what I wanted. This, of course, caused extra steps and more work for him which I appreciated.

Richard is a very knowledgeable guy and it was great to have him out to our house. He knows a lot about cars but also has a lot of other interests. Very intelligent and interesting person.

Well, it was quite a day. My car is beautiful and I learned a lot about detailing. So the next time my car is ready for its big detail I can do it myself. But I won't. I'll wash and wax it in between but the rest I'm going to leave to a professional. I'll call OctaneGuy.

Thanks again Richard!

Tim

Richard did an unbelievable job on my car. And it wasn't any picnic, either. White color, more nooks and crannies than a McLaren Formula 1 car, and a less than perfect workplace.

I've just had the car a couple of weeks and the prior owner bought it new in April. The seller was pretty smart to have waited 'til dark to show me the car. If I'd seen it in the daytime I probably would have passed on the purchase. Don't know what the guy was using to wash the car but, man!

I originally found Richard by calling a professional detail equipment supplier and asking for the best paint restorer in the business. That's what I got. Photos can't do justice to the incredible improvement Richard made. I can safely say that no car ever left the Lotus factory looking that good.

My next mission is to try to get the yellowed Starshield replaced under warranty. I was a little worried about having Richard hit the Starshield with his PC - the manufacturer's instructions say not to buff it - but Richard got rid of enough of the staining that now I'm afraid the warranty inspectors won't replace it!

Thanks to Richard's complete and patiently explained instructions I'll be looking forward to maintaining my car's now-perfect paint the way it deserves to be kept. And I'll look forward to bombarding my car club and racing friends with testimonials about Richard and his skills.

By the way - the prior post was correct about the temporary tags. One little note I can make is that CA requires front and rear plates and Lotuses look like crap with front plates. Since there's technically no expiration date on the temporary plates owners can avoid having to mount the front place by leaving the temp in place. In fact, the seller has had the plates since June but apparently has lost them (?!). I'm thinking about a personalized plate. How about "EXXXIGE"?
